News:
(January,
3rd, 2008) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! New songs
for the New Year...
Two brand new songs from our forthcoming album have
been uploaded on MySpace
- Check them out!!!
(October,
10th, 2007) On Sat. 13-Oct-07 we'll
play a set to promote the Platform at Morecambe
Sat. 20th gig at the Golden Lion, Moor Lane, Lancaster
with special guest appearances from tour participants
from Washington DC, Curly and the Rocket.
(August
2007) We've
actually RECORDED our new album (really)!!!
It's been TWO years since we planned to do this
and when it came down to it we recorded it in TWO
DAYS (at Low
Fold in Forton). To be fair there was a lot
or record breaking procrastination that went into
all this (and some actual rehearsal and writing).
Needless
to say, we've already started writing new material
that won't be on this album at all but that shouldn't
deter you from seeing us put out what we've learnt
so far.
And
when will this new album be released three of you
may well ask? Well, mixing, mastering, album title,
artwork etc was completed to the point at which
the band almost exploded acrimoniously - but we
have a pre-release version at a special price (we
didn't have time for CD insert artwork)
At
the Old Duke, Bristol, August 9th 2007 we will have
the first new Convulsions album since 2004 available
for sale or rent (or barter) for the first time
for the princely sum of £5!

News:
(March,
16th, 2007) We have just heard from
Cooked Goose studios in Chicago that a movie that
we were asked to contribute music for back in 2004
is going for release through Sony (Resurrection
Mary - see opposite). The flick won a bunch
of awards in the horror genre in Chicago and apparantly,
since being on Fearnet,
has gotten about 6000 plays a week.
(March, 4th, 2007)
Costa Rica was amazing! The top funksters, Banooba
from New York, who we played with down there were
superb - so good expect to see them in October as
part of the autumn Chicago Music Explosion Tour.
Incidentally,
the Tour runs twice a year now. Expect to see three
superb acts during May and early June (see www.cmeas.com
for details)
Our
Manchester debut was at the Bike and Hound, Hyde,
Manchester Sat. 13th Jan. Our 3rd biker bar and
our third success at one. The hecklers soon shut
up and punters shook their booties not their chains
which is always a relief.
We
would like to thank everyone down Bath/Box/Wells/Swindon/S.
Wales way for supporting us on our mini-tour between
Xmas and New Year's Day. Especially the wonderfully
eccentric Knights of Box!
Got
a few more gigs in Jan: Wed. 17th sees us back at
the Penny Bank, Lancaster (no, there are no plans
to inflict greater self injury than last time),
20th at Dickie Doodles, Kendal (boy, that gig is
beginning to soar - thanks Sean, Tony, Laura and
Monica), and then the 21st at Fletcher Christian
at Cockermouth, N. Lakes.
Convulsions get festive! Iit's the Annual John O'Gaunt Boxing Day Chandelier Bash! Maybe we'll do both at once this time rather than wait a year (btw, apologies, Cuba Xmas Eve gig was canceled)!
Next
series of gigs will be in the SW visiting our very
good friend's the Knight's (and the smallest pub
in Wiltshire if not England - the fabulous Bassett
Arms).
Okay, the gig at the Penny Bank did indeed turn into a skull splitter. At least yours truly now has a slightly more visible rock and roll scar than the others accrued during an illustrious musical career of falling off furniture.
What a FABULOUS tour we had in the SW - a big soppy thank you to the Knight family in Box for putting us up most of the week and regaling us with late night humour, great home brew, and red wine 'til the sun came up (always thought I was a morning person) in their own pub the Bassett's Arms. Pure Nirvana - the Avalon of pubs!!
This last week in August saw the Jazz trio with Jim Swinerton on double bass on Thurs. 24th at the Aspinall Arms and then Friday it was thefull band at the British RnB Festival - we're at the Crown Inn at 10pm. Sat. we had an alumni party at Furness at Lancaster Uni then it was TWO blinding gigs in Cockermouth on Sunday: Our fav at the Fletcher Christian at 4.30pm then a new night club adventure 4 doors down the road at the Arena Club in the Wordsworth hotel. That one started 11.30pm. "They know what they want but they don't know what they want - what the!"
We always like to take it easy after a tour!
Our last August gig is at the Sun with the Jazz trio on Wed. Aug. 30th.
Waggon and Horses gig went well - apparantly it was a tryout for Friday nights and there should be more Friday gigs starting Sept.. Thanks to Debs, Naomi, and Anne-Marie for your support. Our next Waggon gig will be the Sat. Aug. 12th.
We survived the Limavady Jazz and Blues festival in Ireland. What an absolute treat of a festival it was - friendly folks, superb Guiness, stunning countryside. No litter in the streets and hardly a car on the roads. We wanted to move! A big thank you for Alan Hewitt of AHPromotions for booking us there. Photo below (more to follow courtesy of Nathalie):
